The Ibex is back in the High Valley

Around 1,800 ibexes can't be wrong: the Grisons heraldic animal feels particularly at home in the mountains around Pontresina. It is not for nothing that one of the largest ibex colonies in the Alps lives on Piz Albris (3,166 m), just outside Pontresina. When the meadows in the valley turn green, but the snow still lies up to the tree line, this happens from the end of April to the beginning of June, a phenomenon that can hardly be observed anywhere else in Pontresina. The "King of the Alps" comes down to the edge of the village to feed on the fresh grass. Anyone staying in the Engadine mountain village during this time can admire the animals at close range. In Pontresina's Ibex Paradise, nature-loving guests are invited to follow these paradisiacal conditions in an entertaining way.

Further details about this unique spectacle that just started again can be found here.

The Giacomettis – St. Moritz – Bregaglia Valley

The rugged, mysterious Swiss mountain valley of Bergell (Bregaglia Valley) has produced an extraordinary artistic dynasty: the Giacomettis. From the father Giovanni, who is considered an early impressionist, to the children Alberto, Diego, Ottilia, and Bruno, they were all endowed with remarkable artistic talent. Above all, the world-famous sculptor, painter, and engraver Alberto revolutionized the art world with his thin sculptures. Annetta, the strict mother and calming pole in the circle of her loved ones held the family together inside. Intensive family life embedded in the barren Alpine landscape was a special prerequisite for the Giacomettis' artistic development. Openness, exchange with other cultures, and life in metropolises shaped her life and work.
